As a part of this commitment, he works with community organizations in New York including the Circle of Life Celebration-Pride Memorial (CLCPM), which he also co-founded. The Circle of Life event, which celebrates the lives of the community’s recently deceased, is held annually in Harlem for Black and Brown people within the LGBTQAIA/SGL community and their allies. This event is produced by Griot Community Care LLC (GCC), a subsidiary of LG2J that specializes in culturally sensitive programming and services for people seeking renewal and transformation.

As a former journalist, Chaplain Jones has written for notable publications such as The Associated Press, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Newsday, The Tennessean, Gospel Today Magazine, The Feminist Wire, and The Body.com.

“My aim is to be the type of clinician and chaplain, thinker, an academician who is not limited to the bounds of the academy or the church, or even the medical settings, or the non-profit and community organizing sector. I strive to take my ministry of care to the people and the larger world and train others to do the same. This level of commitment, work, and vision will allow us to really touch and understand more deeply, the human condition.”

In 2020 when the George Floyd incident hit the news, Christopher experienced a traumatic event with his own health. This has led him to deepen his commitment to addressing mental wellness among black men and mental health professionals, who often have limited spaces to address their own care. The prayer book and journal guide reflect this effort.
