Margaret D. Smith

Margaret D. Smith (now Margaret Kellermann, as of 2011) lives on the coast of Northern California with her black lab, Luke. As a writer, artist and musician (you don't have to choose just one, she found out!), she teaches creativity workshops to kids as well as adults. These workshops combine the arts in various ways: journal keeping and collage, for instance.

When Margaret was 8 years old, she discovered that kids can be writers, too. All it takes to start is a piece of paper, a pencil, and a pretty good first line. Margaret's first line concerned an animal birthday party: "Once upon a time in a far-off wood, there lived an owl named Marty."
