Tom Southwick lives on the island of Kauai with his wife, Christena. A 1971 graduate of Harvard College, where he majored in Modern European History, he served as executive editor of The Harvard Crimson. Following graduation he worked for the McGovern for President Campaign and later as a journalist in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. From 1977 through 1980 he held the post of press secretary for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy in his Washington Senate office and his presidential campaign. After serving as editor of the cable industry trade publication Multichannel News, Southwick launched his own cable magazine, Cable World, in 1988 and sold it in 1994 to a unit of Cowles Publishing. From 2003 to 2012 he served as Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Government Relations for Starz Entertainment Group, a premium television network and programming producer based in Denver. He retired in 2010. He has two children, Grant and Caitlin, who live in Denver and Florence, Italy, respectively
