Charles C. Bohl

Charles C Bohl is the Tony Goldman Endowed Director of Real Estate and Urbanism and a professor at the University of Miami's School of Architecture. Chuck has dedicated his career to building interdisciplinary programs for emerging practitioners, focused on developing vibrant, walkable mixed-use communities based on the principles of New Urbanism. As founding director of the Knight Program in Community Building, New Urbanism Online, and the Master of Real Estate Development + Urbanism (MRED+U) programs, he has been a leader in interdisciplinary curriculum design, garnering over 11 million in support from major foundations and donors. He is a co-founder of the Journal of Urbanism and the Urban Land Institute’s Placemaking Council. Chuck is the author of the best-selling “Place Making: Developing Town Centers, Main Streets and Urban Villages” (ULI 2003), Sitte, Hegemann and the Metropolis (Routledge 2008, w JF Lejeune), and “The Art of the New Urbanism” (Wiley 2025, w James Dougherty)
