Jeffrey N. Golub

DR. JEFFREY N. GOLUB, teacher, author, and consultant in Seattle, Washington, worked for 13 years as Associate Professor of English Education at the University of South Florida [USF], preparing students who wished to teach English in the public schools. For 20 years previously, he taught English, speech communication, and writing classes at both junior and senior high schools in Seattle.

He has presented sessions and conducted workshops for teachers and school districts throughout the country on such topics as “Making Learning Happen,” “Constructing an Interactive Classroom,” “Infusing Technology into the Curriculum,” “Developing Students’ Speaking and Listening Skills,” “Making Reading Happen, “Making the Invisible Visible” and “A Tale of Two Literacies.” Dr. Golub is the author of Activities for an Interactive Classroom and Making Learning Happen, two English Methods texts; co-editor of Reflective Activities: Helping Students Connect with Texts; and the editor of More Ways to Handle the Paper Load, Activities to Promote Critical Thinking and Focus on Collaborative Learning.

In 1990, while teaching at Shorecrest High School in Seattle, he was one of 10 English teachers in the country to win the State Farm Insurance Company’s “Good Neighbor” Award for innovative teaching, and in 1994 he was awarded the University of South Florida’s Teaching Excellence award. He also won the Florida Council of Teachers of English Honor Award in 2002.

And he loves chocolate.
