Philip Ross Norman

Philip Ross Norman writes fantasy adventure fiction for young adults. When not writing he is active in technology development and is the co-founder of Ross Robotics, a privately owned UK company specialising in modular robotics. He is the named inventor on over 50 granted patents and is currently developing self-reconfiguring robotics as a parallel activity to the Ross modular robotics. Prior to becoming engaged in the Young Adult genre, Philip wrote and illustrated a number of picture books for children. The Carrot War went into several foreign editions.

He has worked as a journalist on British magazines and as a caricaturist for the Times Literary Supplement and national papers. He has exhibited and sold paintings and graphics in galleries in France and Britain and has designed, made and sold furniture online.

Philip has been guest speaker at events hosted by Microsoft, Siemens and latterly Develop 3D on the subject of the creative process and the challenge of transferring skills across disparate disciplines. He is an active member on a BSI/ISO committee defining standards in modular robotics.

Philip spent his early childhood in East and Central Africa, many experiences from this time being formative both for the artistic and the technological pursuits.
