John Freeman

John Freeman is a San Diego-based accomplished writer, editor and communicator who consults with his clients in public relations, media relations and marketing.

Since 2019, he has written seven self-published, as-told-to books with notable San Diegans, told in a first-person narrative format, most recently Ted Talks with popular sports personality Ted Leitner.

In 2014, he collaborated on They Called Me God, Simon & Schuster with Hall of Fame baseball umpire Doug Harvey.

A graduate of the University of Arizona, John also spent five years in New York City as staff editor/writer with the Yankees and later, as publications director of the National Basketball Association.

He returned to San Diego to spend 15 years as a nationally syndicated media columnist and sportswriter with the Union-Tribune.

His professional background also includes marketing/communications roles with national firms in wind energy and luxury yachting, as well as with UC San Diego Extension.
