Jim is a retired advertising executive, who specialized in direct marketing. His first business book, "Profitable Direct Marketing" was published in 1988. The first half of the book was devoted to starting and growing a direct marketing operation. The rest of the book contained 11 chapter-length case studies of prominent direct marketing companies.
The totally-revised and expanded 2nd edition followed in 1992. In keeping with the growth of direct marketing, he added emphasis on strategic planning and offers -- two areas that have won Jim wide recognition among his peers. "Profitable Direct Marketing" became a business best-seller and a number of foreign editions were published, including those in Portugal and Indonesia.
Jim also authored a chapter for the "Handbook of Modern Marketing." Plus he wrote the Foreword to "Opportunities in Direct Marketing Careers," as well as the Foreword for "Integrated Direct Marketing."
"This Year a Pogo Stick...Next Year a Unicycle" is the title of Jim's autobiography. It was published in 2011, and was a finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
In addition, Jim privately published a book of poetry by his aunt, Frieda Cerman; "Christmas Memories -- 25 Years of Smiles and Tears;" and "Where Do I Park My Elephant?" The first edition of the latter sold-out and is now only available direct from the author.
2020 marked Jim's first experience with Kindle Direct Publishing. His book, "Wednesdays with Christopher" is available exclusively from Amazon.
