Art Elser

Art Elser retired as an Air Force officer, pilot, and teacher in 1979. He served one combat tour in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Later he retired again after 30 years as a technical  writer, consultant, and manager. During those years he taught writing and literature at several colleges and universities. He has also volunteered as a naturalist for several national, state, and non-profit nature preserves. 

Art now writes poetry and has published seven books of poetry, We Leave the Safety of the Sea (2013) A Death at Tollgate Creek (2017), As The Crow Flies (2017), To See a World in a Grain of Sand (2018), It Seemed Innocent Enough (2019), A High Plains Year in Haiku (2021), It Begins in Silence, Ends in Grace (2021). His poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. He has published a memoir, What's It All About, Alfie (2002), and a book on business writing, Writing from Scratch: For Business (1990).

Art lives in Denver with the love of his life, his wife, Kathy.
