I am a British-born academic who lives and works in the United States. Since finishing my Ph.D. at the University of Rochester in 1993, I have taught at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. For six years, from 2009 to 2015, I was Coordinator of the Graduate Program in English. My publications include Modernism and the Theater of Censorship, A Sense of Shock: The Impact of Impressionism on Modern British and Irish Writing, and Modernism and the Aristocracy: Monsters of English Privilege, all published by Oxford University Press, as well as Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day: A Reader's Guide (Continuum, 2001).
