Mary Stein

The Quickening: the First Year of My Death is Mary Stein's first novel. In her earlier book, The Gift of Danger, she wrote of life lessons gathered from nearly 30 years of practicing aikido. For many years she taught English literature and composition at San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College. She now lives in San Francisco and explores nature, both in and out of the city, whenever she can.
