Robert P. Haro

I am Roberto Haro and write under the pen name Roberto de Haro. I'm a retired university professor and senior level academic administrator with career service at major universities in New York, Maryland and California. I've been an elected board member of the College Board, and the University of California Alumni Association. I was active on the U.S. President's Cabinet Committee on Opportunities for the Spanish Speaking, and served as a consultant for the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. I earned the BA at UC Berkeley, and three graduate degrees including a doctorate in higher education administration and public policy.

I started writing novels after retiring in 2000. My areas of interest are historical fiction in the period 1900 to 1950, contemporary detective thrillers, and novels that deal with the Mexican American experience in the United States. Several of my novels have been selected by competitions for achievement in the areas of drama and adventure. I'm a member of the California Writer's Club, and review books for two online literary journals. I also review books for the Latino International Book Awards. To date I've written and published fifteen (15) novels. THE SECRET EMISSARY: 2024 won two awards by the International Latino Literary Book competition. My new novel BLOOD VENDETTA:2025, deals with the opioid problem, industrial espionage in the US, political machinations in the US, and international intrigue and terrorism. I reside in Marin County, California.
