Tianlong Yu is an associate professor of educational foundations at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a visiting “Taishan Scholar” professor of education at Shandong Normal University, China. Born and raised in China and educated in both China and the United States, he now frequently travels between the two countries and enjoys a life on the go. A cross-cultural perspective is often integrated into his writing in the social foundations of education. As a scholar, he has a keen interest in issues of moral education, especially political questions around it. His two published books address these issues. He is the author of In the Name of Morality: Character Education and Political Control (Peter Lang, 2004) and co-editor of Character and Moral Education: A Reader (Peter Lang, 2011). His articles addressing antiracist education, multicultural education, and Chinese education appeared in such journals as Equity and Excellence in Education, Multicultural Education, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, and Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education.
