Paul Limbert Allman

Paul Allman’s was born in St. Louis, Mo. He has worked as a radio copywriter, set builder, warehouse worker, location scout, cameraman, video editor, producer and director.

Allman’s story, 'The Frequency', was published in Harper’s Magazine. His short story 'We Have Time' won a Pushcart Prize. Other stories have appeared in Film Comment, Witness, Public Illumination, Folio, and The Ex-Files compilation. Allman’s first novel 'Otis: On the Occasion of His Foray into the Wilderness of Civilization', was published in hardback by St. Martin’s Press. He has also published two YA novels, 'The Knot' and 'No Pain, No Gain', and a textbook, 'Exploring Careers in Video and Digital Video', with the Rosen Publishing Group.

Allman has been Playwright-in-Residence at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and also a Screenwriting Fellow and twice Playwriting Fellow at the Sundance Institute. His stage plays have been produced by 78th Street Theatre Lab, St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery, Tribeca Lab, the Broome Street Theater, Florida Studio Theater, and the Sundance Children’s Theater. Allman’s stage play 'Otis Furioso' was optioned by Paramount and he scripted the film adaptation. Allman has taught in NYC’s Authors in the Schools Program, and led writing workshops at the YMCA of St. Louis. He has been a regular contributor to the following magazines: Videographic, Post, invision, Screen Ads, Screen and Broadcast Magazine.
