Martha E. Hopkins loves all things literary. She has degrees in English from the College of William and Mary and the Unversity of Virginia. Her passion is Shakespeare, which she studied at the Shakespeare Institute of the University of Birmingham (UK) in Stratford-upon-Avon. (Her collection of Shakespeare-related items--toby jugs, figurines, teapots, etc., threatens to take over her house.) She has taught English courses at colleges and universities in West Virginia and Virginia. Currently she is Exhibition Director in the Interpretive Programs Office at the Library of Congress. Many of her exhibitions are online at www.loc.gov/exhibitions.
When working on her Language of the Land book, Martha could not find a literary map of Washington, D.C., so she created one--The Literary Map of Metropolitan Washington, D.C.
Travel is her Martha's other passion and she has written travel-related articles for the Washington Post and USA Today.
After she retires and has more time, Martha plans to do more writing. She has a long list of possible projects, including more literary maps and Shakespeare-related books and articles.
