John Strazzabosco taught high school math for thirty three years in Pittsford, New York. He retired and volunteered at a Rochester church drop-in center for kids in a sector known as the Crescent, home to the most extreme poverty in the USA. His stories put faces on ninety impacts of wounding he identified that impede a child's climb into middle class, and the physiological devastation that must be faced by the survivors who make it into adulthood. The book is a Top Ten Summer Reads selection of The Port, (theport@brockport.edu) a publication of the State University of New York College at Brockport, NY.
