I hope to share the joy of painting in a free use of styles with others.
The target audience for the book by Vicky Perry, "Abstract Painting: Concepts and Techniques", is the advanced or college level painter. The book explores the issues facing the painter while in the studio. There are psychological, physiological and practical matters that must be managed in creating a modern abstract painting. There are concepts with which the painter wrestles.
While there is some a theoretical and historical text, this book more instructional and geared to what matters when your equipment is in front of you.
My representational painting started in the late 70’s leaving aside minimalism. In the 80’s, I chose to concentrate on landscapes as an emotionally neutral subject. The process/action painting goes back to an early infatuation with Morris Louis and, of course, Jackson Pollock.
