Jim Bowman is a Chicago-area writer (Oak Park IL) with a dozen books, three of them on Catholic topics. His latest, Company Man: My Jesuit Life, 1950-1968 (available in softcover and Kindle) is about his years as a Jesuit.
An Earlier book, Bending the Rules: What American Priests Tell American Catholics (1994), features interviews with dozens of veteran pastors from around the U.S. on hot-button issues including marriage after divorce and homosexuality.
As religion editor for the Chicago Daily News, 1968-1978, he covered news of all faiths. His time at the News included the sometimes stormy incumbency of John Cardinal Cody, the split-up of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Episcopal Book of Common Prayer changes, and various other Christian, Jewish, and other episodes.
He blogs at Blithe Spirit and at Company Man and tweets as Blithe Spirit and Company Man.
As a former Jesuit, married since 1969 and with his wife the father of six grown children, he remains a regular Catholic churchgoer.
