David Hellerstein is an award-winning author and physician in New York. His nonfiction books include: The Couch, the Clinic, and the Scanner: Stories from Three Revolutionary Eras of Psychiatry; Heal Your Brain; A Family of Doctors; and Battles of Life and Death. His novels include Loving Touches and Stone Babies. He recently published a graphic novella, Crocapoo, about the adventures of an intrepid pup searching for his brothers in the wilds of New York City. In his spare time he is a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, and directs the Psychedelic Clinical Research Program of the NY State Psychiatric Institute. He lives in New York City and spends much of his time bicycling along the Hudson River.
