Martha Grace Duncan

Martha Grace Duncan won the 2026 International Creative Nonfiction Award for her book manuscript Death of a Dreamer.

She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and a law degree from Yale. She is a professor of law and a professor of psychoanalysis at Emory University.

Her published works include “So Young and So Untender: Remorseless Children and the Expectations of the Law,” which was published in Columbia Law Review and quoted in the New Yorker. Her essay “What Not to Do When Your Roommate is Murdered in Italy” won the Judith Siegel Pearson Award and was published in the Harvard Journal of Law and Gender.

In addition to her legal scholarship, she has published memoirs in literary journals, garnering first prize in the Creative Nonfiction category of the Soul-Making Keats Literary Contest.
