Rose Miller

Rose Miller has spent a lifetime learning from the horses, mules, and dogs who shaped her world — from running barefoot on her family’s Pennsylvania farm as a child to managing a Tennessee Walking Horse farm in Indiana, and now riding the trails around Prescott, Arizona. Her books — including The Horse That Wouldn’t Trot, Mules, Mules and More Mules, Always Have a Dog in Your Life, and Girls Can Be Cowboys Too! volumes i and ii. — are heartfelt true stories that invite readers into the barn aisle, around the campfire, and into life with the spirited animals she calls partners, teachers, and friends. Miller always wanted to be a veterinarian, but it was storytelling that became her true calling and the way she honors the deep bonds between humans and animals.

Her conversational style and genuine love of the West’s characters and landscapes have also landed her in interviews and podcasts, including a featured conversation with Reader’s House where she shares more about her life, inspirations, and the women behind Girls Can Be Cowboys Too!
