Lenn Redman - A Mid-Century Modern Artist, Author, Educator, Entertainer & Civil Rights Activist



Lenn created over 200,000 caricatures, paintings and animation art in his lifetime. With over 1,000 pieces of animation art, caricatures, paintings and historical artifacts in our collection, content is constantly being added to the site. Original artwork is available for exhibition through The Redman Family Foundation, Inc. a non-profit organization supporting education, visualization and conversation among an ever-expanding global arts audience.



From the 1930’s to the 1980’s Lenn Redman's artistic abilities and entertaining personality captivated audiences around the world. Be it on TV or Radio, at Conventions or Private Parties, Lenn's experience drawing more than 200,000 faces from life placed him in a league all his own. Utilizing his experience, Lenn authored his first book, ‘How To Draw Caricatures’ to help educate anyone to the art of caricature. This book is the #1 bestselling how-to book on the art of caricature in the world and has been for over 40 years. Lenn's family recently republished the original version and it's available at

For over 20 years The Lenn Redman Commercial Arts studio in Chicago provided advertising artwork to leading corporations around the nation. Though Lenn’s career actually started and ended as an animator. He started his animation career during the 'Golden Years of Animations' with Walt Disney, Leon Schlesinger and other newly formed 1930’s LA animation production houses. Lenn finished his animation career in LA working for Filmation & Hanna-Barbera on hit shows Superman, Aquaman and other 1960’s Saturday morning cartoons.

Lenn left the field shortly after the Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations to devote his remaining years to offset racial and national prejudice. He authored a second book, ‘What Am I?', an illustrated poem of human diversity with a formula for utilizing our differences for the good of all. Lenn's family republished this work of art, art with a message and have begun to publish it in multiple languages. Available today in English and Spanish.

Lenn passed away in 1987 at the age of 75. His talents continue to entertain and educate fans around the world. His family has preserved this amazing collection of Mid-Century Modern American art history for all to enjoy.
