Audrey J. Murrell

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Audrey J. Murrell is an Associate Professor of Business Administration, Psychology and the Director of the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Murrell conducts research, teaches and works with organizations on strategies to enhance overall effectiveness by utilizing their most valuable assets - their human and social capital. She conducts extensive research on building capacity of people and outcomes at work with a special emphasis on enhancing outcomes for women. Dr. Murrell received her undergraduate degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and her masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Delaware. She serves as a consultant in the areas of mentoring, organizational effectiveness, teamwork, diversity, and leadership development. Audrey has received numerous awards including the Small Business Administration (SBA) "Minority Business Advocate of the Year", the "Women of Distinction" award from the Girls Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Susan B. Anthony "Women of Vision" award from the Women's Leadership Assembly, the Community Champion Award from the United Way of Allegheny County, and the Chancellor's Distinguished Public and Community Service Award from the University of Pittsburgh. She is the author of several books including Mentoring Dilemmas: Developmental Relationships within Multicultural Organizations, published by Lawrence Erlbaum & Associates, "Intelligent Mentoring: How IBM Adds Value through People, Knowledge and Relationships" by Pearson Publishers, "A Peculiar Treasure", a book of spirit-filled poetry published by Xulon Press and the recent book, "Tested Mortar: How God Uses Life's Test to Strengthen US" by Pneuma Publishing.
