"In my work as a writer and teacher, I've tried to help people understand that every life is filled with undreamed of possibilities, that words are powerful and can make a difference and that possessing talent is a great responsibility not to be taken lightly. If those of us who've been given the gift of artistic acumen were to truly realize the impact that gift could have on a world desperate for meaning and purpose, we would all make a firm commitment to use our talent to ease suffering and turn darkness to light."
