Deborah Torrens was born in London, brought up and educated in Midhurst, West Sussex and returned to London to attend Art College.
She is the author and illustrator of Fashion Illustrated, Womens Fashion from 1920 to 1950, Fashion Parade, Womens Fashion from 1950 to 1970, Patterns of Fashion, dressmaking patterns from the 1920's to 1950's, 3D Eye, a biography of Michael English, Artist and Illustrator, and is currently working on another book covering Designer Fashions of the 20th Century.
She is also the costume designer for several London stage productions including, Private Lives, Noel Coward at The Haymarket Theatre, London and Design for Living, Noel Coward, National Theatre, London amongst others. She was also responsible for the interior refurbishment of many of central Manchester's Listed Buildings in the 1990's and played a part in the redesign of St Ann's Square, Manchester.
She has also been responsible for the graphic design of brochures and marketing material for some of the leading companies in the UK and Europe.
