Drew Banks

Drew Banks is the author of The Elba Trilogy—Able Was I, Ere I Saw Elba, and I Before E—three interconnected literary novels spanning New York, Paris, and Italy. Completed over twenty-five years, the trilogy explores identity, exile, belonging, and the enduring bonds of family through three protagonists whose lives ultimately converge. Readers can experience the story either as a single omnibus edition, The Elba Trilogy, or as three individual novels, each offering a different perspective on the larger narrative.

Throughout his career, Banks has explored how people communicate. He spent more than three decades developing visual communication and educational technologies, was a technology entrepreneur, and co-authored two business books on the impact of the Internet on organizational and marketing communications. He holds an MBA from MIT and a certificate in creative writing from the University of Oxford.

His work has been featured by NPR, Publishers Weekly BookLife, and the Saints & Sinners Literary Festival. Banks lives in San Francisco with his husband, Nick Rubashkin, and is currently at work on his next novel.
