Wendy Anne Paterson

Dr. Wendy Paterson is currently the Dean of the School of Education at Buffalo State College. Over the course of more than 30 years in teaching and educational leadership, Dr. Paterson has pursued research on phenomena that impact families and schools. Her two complimentary books on single mothers and divorced fathers were prompted by her own experiences as a single mother and those of her colleagues and friends who did not want their lives and those of their children to be portrayed only by some negative statistical analysis. She has shared her books with single and divorced women and men through presentations and conversations where participants share their enthusiasm for the richly textured stories she tells in her books. Any divorced or single parent who reads the books will relate to the passionate way she gives each mother or father a voice as that individual comes to terms with the difficult passages through and beyond divorce and from single-hood to parenthood. Dr. Paterson currently lives in Amherst, NY. She feels fortunate that she had the chance to build a uniquely strong and mutually beneficial relationship with her son, who as an adult writes that his mom is truly his hero.
