William B. Jones

WILLIAM B. JONES is a writer, attorney, and teacher. He is the author of Petit Jean: A Wilderness Adventure and Classics Illustrated: A Cultural History (two editions); the editor of Robert Louis Stevenson Reconsidered; a co-editor of A Spectrum Reader; a contributor to The Oxford Handbook of Adaptation Studies and Icons of the American Comic Book; and the scriptwriter for an NEA-sponsored national readers’ theatre adaptation of The Great Gatsby and an Arkansas Repertory Theatre school-tour production that was the genesis for Petit Jean: A Wilderness Adventure. Jones wrote introductions for more than 100 reissued titles in the revived Classics Illustrated series. He chaired an international symposium on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Robert Louis Stevenson and has published articles in Verniana, The Journal of Stevenson Studies, and The Public Historian. Speaking engagements include the Library of Congress and academic conferences from New York to California. He has two sons, Will and Stephen, and lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his wife, costume designer Yslan Hicks.
