Kathy McCoy

Kathy McCoy, Ph.D., is an award winning author of over a dozen books, many of them for or about teenagers. These include the ALA award-winning "The Teenage Body Book", the critically acclaimed "We Don't Talk Anymore: Healing When Parents and Adult Children Are Estranged" and her upcoming memoir "The Crocodiles Will Arrive Later".

She writes a monthly feature "Complicated Love" for PsychologyToday.com and her podcast "Living Fully with Dr. Kathy McCoy" won a Best Choice award from Womans Day magazine in 2019.

A former columnist for Seventeen and a former editor of ‘TEEN Magazine, she has written many articles for national magazines, newspapers and professional journals such as Redbook, Readers Digest, The New York Times, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Ladies Home Journal, Glamour, TV Guide and The Journal of Clinical Child Psychology.

A popular guest on national television shows, Dr. McCoy has made numerous appearances on The Today Show, has been featured twice on Oprah, and has appeared on a number of other national and local television and radio shows. She has also appeared frequently on the pages of USA Today as an expert on adolescent issues and has been interviewed by writers from The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, AARP.com and The Huffington Post about midlife challenges.
