Robert Porter

I teach political science at Ventura College and am married to Sara MacCracken. We have two boys and enjoy being in the wild together. Besides teaching and writing, I'm an avid hiker and enjoy roaming the creeks and canyons near my home in Ojai, California. I grew up as a surfer in Ventura, studied at UCLA and UCSB, where I earned a PhD in Political Science in 2000. I've spent quite a bit of time in Mexico, including a stretch in Oaxaca and Chiapas, where I did research for my Phd.
