Joe J. Jordan

Joe J Jordan is a retired Philadelphia architect and educator, His professional interest in architectural education, brought him to Drexel University, in 1956, where he taught for almost twenty years, fifteen of them as Head of the Department of Architecture. In 1958, he started his own firm under the name Joe J Jordan, AIA, then, in 1982, he formed a partnership with James E Mitchell, AIA to create the firm Jordan, Mitchell Inc. In its thirty-year life, his Philadelphia firm had served corporate, governmental, and institutional clients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.

Retirement from professional practice provided an opportunity for him to pursue his third area of interest, writing. It had been many years since The National Council on the Aging published his first book, Senior Center Design - An Architect's Evaluation of Building Design, Equipment, and Furnishings. Three years later brought his second book on this emerging building type,, Senior center Design - Am Architect's discussion of Facility Planning.

His curiosity about the construction date of his family's historic seaside cottage, led to extensive research for the publication of his third and fourth books, Cape May Point - The Illustrated History From 1875 to the Present, and to, Cape May Point - Three Walking Tours of Historic Cottages.
