V. M. Kenkre

Dr. V. M. (Nitant) Kenkre, is a Distinguished Professor (Emeritus) of Physics at the University of New Mexico, USA. His undergraduate studies were carried out at the Indian Institute of Technology, Powai (India) and his graduate work at the State University of New York, Stony Brook (USA). He was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society in 1998 and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2005. He was the Founding Director of an international research Center in interdisciplinary science for 16 years until his retirement. One of the missions of the Center was to encourage scientific collaborations of Latin American scientists with USA scientists at the University of New Mexico and neighboring research institutions. Dr. Kenkre was given the highest faculty research award of his University in 2004 and supervised the Ph.D. research of 25 scientists. He has also had an equal number of postdoctoral research associates. He has interests in comparative religion, literature and visual art, and has often lectured on the first of these. He has published three books on his poetry entitled “Tinnitus”, “Puttering with Poetry”, and “The Colors of Sunset”, an autobiographical book “In Lieu of a Memoir”, and a few others on theoretical physics. He has also authored over 270 articles on his physics research. His books, “What is Hinduism” and “The Pragmatic Geeta”, are available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle versions as are his physics books “Theory of the Spread of Epidemics and Movement Ecology” (Cambridge University Press, December 2020), “Memory Functions, Projection Operators and the Defect Technique”(Springer Nature, March 2021), and “Interplay of Quantum Mechanics and Nonlinearity” (Springer Nature, March 2022).
