We have three books which cover the private rented sector.

First, there is "Successful Property Letting - How to Make Money in Buy to Let", the UK's highest selling property book, which first came out in 2005. The brand new 2020 edition is now available to order - and it has been substantially edited and revised since the previous edition. It covers everything a buy to let landlord needs to know. The book has sold 110,000 copies to date, making it the best selling buy to let book and a bible for landlords.

Second, we have "The Buy to Let Landlords' Guide to Finding Great Tenants" which came out in late 2016. This book focuses exclusively on one very important aspect of the job of being a landlord - that of finding great tenants. It is a detailed guide about how to do this right.

Even if you use a letting agent to find tenants you'll still need to know that they are doing this correctly and are not going to deliver you the "tenant from hell". So, if you use a letting agent you still need to read this book.

Third, we have a book for tenants called, "Tenants Guide to Successful Renting" - which aims to be the very best and most insightful guide for tenants seeking accommodation in the private rented sector. It covers everything a tenant could wish to know.

I have been a landlord and residential property investor since 1986 and am an acknowledged expert on the private rented sector.

I am a consultant to banks, local authorities, social housing providers, insurers, institutional investors and other organisations - helping them with their landlord facing or buy to let product products, strategies and services. I have spoken at the London Assembly and the Council of Mortgage Lenders. I also write for property websites and am regularly quoted by the national and property media.
