Robert Plattner was born in Grand Pass, Missouri in 1926. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, then graduated from the University of Missouri in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Later he earned graduate degrees from Ohio State University and the University of Michigan. He worked in industry ten years as a mid-level manager before becoming a professor at the University of Massachusetts. He now lives in a retirement community in Medford, Oregon. During his professional career he published two textbooks. His recent book The Grand Pass was written for fun. He continues to enjoy life and people - and good stories.
