Zigurd Mednieks is a consultant to leading OEMs, enterprises, and entrepreneurial ventures creating Android-based systems and apps.

He has a new book coming out on managing creativity and risk in software creation!

He was Chief Architect at D2 Technologies, a telecommunications technology provider. There he lead engineering and product definition for multimedia messaging in a purpose-built OS and on the Android platform.

He is Series Editor of the Addison Wesley Android Deep Dive series. The first book in the series, by Roger Ye, is Embedded Programming with Android, published August 2015. The second book will be Android Concurrency by G. Blake Meike.

He is lead author of the top-selling O'Reilly title Programming Android, which is being updated for a 3rd edition. Zigurd is also the lead author of Enterprise Android, published by Wiley WROX in 2013. Enterprise Android is the first Android book to focus on cloud API-based Android apps.

Zigurd is a 25 year veteran of user interface, telecommunications, and social media product creation, including roles at Ericsson Juniper Networks, where he created specifications for a groundbreaking mobile data node. In 1986, his first book, C programming Techniques for the Macintosh was published by Howard W. Sams & Co.

Zigurd has patents on inventions in telecommunications protocols, computer-controlled devices and mobile devices.
