Griselda Gifford

I am the author of over 30 books for children - many sold abroad as well as the UK. I was born in Monte Carlo, where my father had a gambling systerm which failed! Since then I have lived in England but enjoy travelling abroad on holiday. I have two children and two step-children - also grand-children. I paint and sometimes sell pictures - go to church but recently, have been attending Quaker meetings. I love talking to friends (too much!). reading, walking our dog Toby, visiting schools to talk about my books - have been all over UK, visited Texas schools and also a French Lycee. I have recently been teaching adults Creative Writing. I also enjoy ballet, theatre, film and some TV.

I have had some excellent reviews and have twice been on a long list for an award (always the Bridesmaid, never the Bride!) At the moment, one of my books, The Silent Pool, is still published in Thailand and House of Spies is also still published in Holland in an educational format (in English)

My latest book, to be published on 19th August by Country Books, is THE CUCKOO'S DAUGHTER. It's based on a true story and set in 1799 - it's romantic, historical and will appeal to young teens and adults alike.

I now live in Bedfordshire with my second husband, Jim, and our dog Tia.
