George Kirby

George Kirby was born in 1944 and grew up in Burbank, CA. He got into martial arts quite by accident while studying for his MA degree at CSULA. He started teaching traditional Japanese jujitsu in 1967 and one thing led to another. Although professionally a school teacher for 39 years he applied many of his skills to teaching the art of jujitsu through community service agencies, forming the American Jujitsu Association, and being involved in law-enforcement arrest & control programs. George has also been a prolific writer of books and articles concerning jujitsu and self-defense. At age 75 he still continues to teach the art in Santa Clarita, CA and is still writing books to help martial artists develop a better working understanding of jujitsu.
