Joyce Burd Hicks

Joyce Hicks is a keen recorder of serious, mundane, or hilarious family transactions, primarily in the Midwest beginning with her debut novel, Escape from Assisted Living. Its sequel One More Foxtrot won 1st Place for Fiction, National Federation of Press Women. Her new novel Unexpected Guests at Blackbird Lodge was a finalist for Indie Fiction in the 12th Annual Chicago Writers Indie Book-of-the-Year. Literary Mama, Undeniably Indiana, Passager, Kudzu House, Great Lakes Review, and others have carried her stories. She has appeared at the Goodman Theater as a storyteller in Chicago. More than anything, Joyce Hicks values spending time with her family and pets in Indiana and Michigan, though Upstate New York still has a place in her heart.
