Sylvia Edwards

Lancashire-born Sylvia Edwards is a former teacher, deputy head and specialist leader in SEND whose long career in education shaped her deep understanding of people, resilience and the hidden stories that shape lives. Now retired from her work supporting children and young people with special educational needs; during which Sylvia became an established author with twenty-four published books on the specialist subjects of SEND and literacy; Sylvia has now turned her creative energy toward a lifelong passion: writing fiction that explores the emotional undercurrents of the past.

Sylvia is the author of A Lie Never Dies (Shortlisted for the Catherine Cookson Fiction Prize), and Love, Lies… and Loss, the first two novels in The Legacy of Deceit series. These are gripping historical romances set against the shifting social landscapes of Edwardian England and the turmoil of the First World War. Sylvia’s stories weave together secrets, adversity and the quiet strength of women navigating worlds that often underestimated them.

Drawing on her instinct for empathy and her fascination with human motivation, Sylvia creates characters whose struggles and triumphs feel both intimate and universal. She is currently working on the third novel in the series, continuing the sweeping journey through love, betrayal and the legacies families leave behind.

When she isn’t writing, Sylvia enjoys the quieter rhythms of retirement, though her imagination rarely rests, always searching for the next thread of history waiting to be unravelled.
