Mary Celeste Kearney is Associate Professor of Film, Television, and Theatre and Concurrent Faculty in American Studies and Gender Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Her research to date has focused primarily on girls' media culture. She is author of GIRLS MAKE MEDIA (Routledge, 2006) and GENDER AND ROCK (Oxford, 2017). She is also editor of MEDIATED GIRLHOODS: NEW EXPLORATIONS OF GIRLS' MEDIA CULTURE (Peter Lang, 2011) and THE GENDER AND MEDIA READER (Routledge, 2011). She co-edited volume two of MEDIATED GIRLHOODS (Peter Lang, 2018), and THE CRAFT OF CRITICISM: CRITICAL MEDIA STUDIES IN PRACTICE (Routledge, 2018). She is currently working on her next book, tentatively titled Designing the Junior Miss: The First Wave of Teen-Girl Entertainment (UT Press).
