Richard Roe

Richard Roe, born in 1944, lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. He enjoys writing from different angles, and using different styles, on his favourite subject: love - in the aftermath of 11 September 2001. In his series "Copenhagen Blues", there is poetry and love in volume 1, "Love Strikes in Samaria, where young Kasper de Haas, a poetic soul, falls in love with down-to-earth Louise, who happens to live an a ghetto dominated by vicious Arab hooligans wearing Osama bin Laden t-shirts. Kasper de Haas, who has never before set foot in a ghetto, is shocked to his core at what he is up against, including guns stuck into his face, when merely trying to visit Louise.

Volume 2 "The Swim" is Louise“s candid account of life in the ghetto, and of her first encounter with Kasper de Haas. This story would be even better in the audio version, if Madonna could be talked into rendering it in her special voice.

Volume 3 "Jan de Haas, Grandfather" has scenes of beauty, tranquility, and sentiment, as Kasper“s father takes his granddaughter, Helena, on a holiday far away from crime and threats shortly after she has had eyes surgery performed.

Volume 4 "Opposite Neighbours" is sheer fun. In a style which James Joyce would have used, the events of 11 September are seen through the eyes of a desperate housewife (Louise“s mother)while she broods over love“s bitter mystery, and dreams of wild sex, watching her neighbours.
