John A. DeBrizzi

Raised in a working-class community, I grew up at a time when social support for promising young people was decidedly more available than it is today. So it was possible to obtain a Ph.D. in sociology unburdened by debt.

In recent years I have focused on producing "real sociology." Sometimes described as sociology as an art form, "real sociology" utilizes fiction to illuminate contemporary reality for a closer and more careful inspection by the broad public beyond academia. America and Beatrice and Pythagoras are two examples of real sociology.
