Stan Draenos

A historian and political analyst based in Athens, Greece, Stan Draenos received his PhD at York University in Toronto, after studies at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Chicago. His articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the London Review of Books and the prestigious Athens daily, Kathimerini. He has been a Contributing Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center, Research Fellow at the Princeton University Hellenic Studies Program, and resident historian at the Andreas G. Papandreou Foundation.

He has served as press secretary for the Majority Leader of the California state Senate, speech writer for corporate executives (including executives at Bank of America, Magna International, Chevron Corporation and Gallo Wineries), analyst for RCM Capital Management in San Francisco, report writer for Ernst & Young global marketing, and feature writer for Upside Magazine.

He has published numerous scholarly and journalistic articles on Hannah Arendt, Sigmund Freud and Greek politics and US foreign policy.
