Patrick Raymond Dugan

Patrick R. Dugan obtained all his academic degrees from Syracuse University. During this time, he also spent eight years as an Associate Research Scientist at the Syracuse University Research Corp. (SURC). At the same period, he conducted research on various microbiological, biochemical and analytical problems of an environmental nature that were of concern to various governmental agencies and private corporations.

In 1964, he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH (OSU); where he taught and conducted research on problems primarily related to environmental contamination. During this period, he also served a term as Department Chairman and later as Dean of the College of Biological Sciences, and as a trustee of the Columbus Zoological Association and Zoo.

From 1968 to i1970, he was president of the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Microbiology and remained a member of the American Academy of Microbiology. In 1987, he moved from OSU to the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he became a Science Fellow and Director of the Center for Bio-processing Technology, conducting research on a variety of projects of interest to the United States Department of Energy. During this period, he continued to serve on the graduate faculties of OSU and the University of Idaho.

From 1990 to 1991, he was an Associate of Western Universities Distinguished Lecturer. Patrick has been an author or co-author of cover 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as in book chapters.

He is an author of the book "Biochemical Ecology of Water Pollution" published in both English and Japanese (by Plenum Press). He is listed in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in the World."
