Andrew R. Houghton

Andrew R. Houghton is a Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Head of Echocardiography at Grantham & District Hospital, Lincolnshire, UK.

In 1997 his first book, Making Sense of the ECG (co-authored with David Gray), won the Richard Asher Prize for Best First Edition Textbook from the Royal Society of Medicine and the Society of Authors, and also won a Commendation from the British Medical Association.

Other textbooks include Chamberlain's Symptoms and Signs in Clinical Medicine (13th edition), published in 2010, and the 2nd edition Making Sense of Echocardiography, which was published in October 2013.

The 4th edition of Making Sense of the ECG, together with the 2nd edition of its companion volume Making Sense of the ECG: Cases for Self-Assessment, was published in the spring of 2014.
