Over the last 20 years, Ron P. Whittington has worked as a ghost writer on two national best-selling books and his freelance writing has appeared in several regional publications including Texas Business, Texas Monthly, Miles Media, Water’s Edge, Jacksonville Magazine, Beson Publications, and the Florida Times Union.
He released his first fiction novel, Second Strike, in May 2010, followed by the short story "The Devil You Don't" in May 2011. His second book featuring character Parker Glynn, "Doppelganged," is due for release in late 2011.
After he received his degree from Georgia State University, he started his career as a journalist with CNN Radio in Atlanta and later joined the Dallas-Fort Worth Business Journal as a reporter and researcher.
Whittington entered the public relations profession in 1984 when he joined the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Since that time, he has been a publications editor and media manager for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, served as the Olympic Information Officer for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transportation Authority during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, and as a spokesman for Jacksonville’s electric authority, JEA. Whittington continues to serve as a field public information officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, periodically assigned to disasters throughout the U.S.
During his career, he has also worked as a marketing consultant through two companies he founded – WhittCom, Inc. and Whittington & Associates, LLC. - and is currently a Senior Account Executive in the SE Regional Office for London-based Mulberry Marketing Communications.
Whittington was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
