Paul William White

Paul White has brought to physical and virtual paper his love of writing and research, in a number of genres where his passions lay. He has produced as a freelance writer, hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, internet articles, websites, blogs and books.

His love of historical research led him to write the history of his home town “Owen Sound: The Port City”. And in a much more prolific manner he has specialized in biographical sketch writing as well as sports history. He is a highly regarded sports historian who brings to life the exploits of the biggest names in the world of hockey with stories spanning the history of the National Hockey League. But he also tells the stories of those who seldom played on their team’s power play. Sometimes their stories are often more interesting than the tale of the “Can’t Miss” superstar!

His latest book, "Hockey's Royal Family: The Conachers," details the lives of Lionel, Charlie, and Roy Conacher, the only three brothers to be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The book also includes biographies of Roy's twin brother Bert, Charlie's son Pete, Lionel's son Brian, and their nephew Murray Henderson. For more than a half a century the name Conacher dominated the Canadian sports scene.

His book "Great Centremen: Stars of Hockey's Golden Age" features short biographies of some of the greatest centremen in the early years of the NHL. In the pages you will find stories about Montreal Canadiens legends, Jean Beliveau and Henri Richard; Boston Bruins icons, Milt Schmidt and Ralph "Cooney" Weiland; New York Ranger Hall of Famer Frank Boucher; Toronto Maple Leaf stars Ted "Teeder" Kennedy, Syl Apps, and Max Bentley; and finally Detroit Red Wings legends Sid Abel and my personal all-time favourite Alex Delvecchio.

Shooting for the Moon: The Bill Beagan Story, with a foreword by hockey legend Bobby Orr, features the career of Bill Beagan, a youngster from Parry Sound Ontario, who after serving as an apprentice in the Canadian army and serving his country overseas, began a long and storied career in the world of hockey. Briefly he skated in the NHL as an on-ice official. He served as a linesman in the game in which Bill Masterton died. Later he became commissioner of four different leagues. White gathered interesting pieces of hockey history which can be found in the various Appendixes and interviewed many members of the world of hockey including former president John Ziegler, hockey star and University of Michigan's legendary coach, Red Berenson to name just a few who made contributions to this book.

White is also known widely for his expertise in the world of sports card collecting. He is a confirmed hobbyist from the early years of his youth amassing a collection of hockey cards dating from the 1950s to date.

White was an active participant in the sports memorabilia industry. In his book “How To Collect Sports Cards For Fun & Profit” he shares with you his knowledge about sports cards to help you further enjoy this great hobby.

Paul White is a long-time member of SIHR (Society for International Hockey Research). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Trent University and is currently completing a Masters degree in History at the University of Western Ontario.

He wrote this book because after making multiple trips to Florida each year, over the course of many years and trying a variety of routes, White decided that he needed to share their discovery with readers.
