I am intersted in mathematical approaches to analytics and how exploiting data can be transformative to companies and even whole sectors. More and more of our lives are spent online through mobile and wifi platforms. This all transactions are digital and captured. Those companies that embrace this switch from being supply-centric (being rightly proud of their operations and service efficiencies) to becoming customer-centric (worrying about why and how people transact and take products and services, as opposed to how these are provided).
Mathematics, or rather the applications of mathematics, is changing rapidly. Many maths gradates will be employed within sectors where data science and analytics is essential, And there is a recognised work shortage of maths since skills.
I believe this only becomes competitive and highly differentiating for companies, if the methods and built on firm and rigorous concepts from maths: probability theory, dynamical systems, graphs and networks, optimisation and search, spectral theory and topology.
I also research in other fields including energy demand forecasting and large-scale neural dynamics. I am interested in science and translation strategy.
