Art Poulin

Considered one of America's foremost folk artists. Art Poulin offers canvases of inviting landscapes that blend his love for America’s simplicity with a deep appreciation and knowledge of twentieth century architecture. Within the last year alone, Art provided commissioned pieces to the US Army and Penguin Random House, and has had products selected by Universal Studios to appear on Fox Broadcast's "House," and offered as gifts by Paramount Picture for the 83rd Academy Awards. The unequaled following for Art's originals and limited editions is matched only by the growing demand for a broad spectrum of licensed products that include exclusive seasonal cards, calendars, puzzles, apparel, crafts, and home and garden decor.

Before becoming a full-time artist, Art, who was born in Waterville, Maine, supported his country for 27 years of active duty as a tenor in the US Army chorus in Washington, DC, during which he had the honor to meet six presidents and numerous world political leaders and entertainment personalities. In addition to his military career, Art founded and operated a design-build firm of residential homes in Northern Virginia.

Art is married to author Gail Fraser (the Lumby series) and together they have built a life of simplicity on a forty-acre gentleman’s farm named Lazy Goose in upstate New York, which has been featured in many newspapers and national magazines. In addition to painting, Art follows his love of classical music while listening to recordings in his studio, or playing his piano which is only yards from his easel. When not in the studio, he loves flower gardening, conversational French (his native language), and early American history.

Art and Gail's story and respective talents are featured in their first collaborative effort, a non-fiction illustrated hardcover entitled "Finding Happiness in Simplicity: Everyday Joys for Simple Living Throughout the Year" (Globe Pequot 3/2012).
