Dr. Rix Tillman is past president of the Southern Baptists of Texas Pastor's Conference (2004-2005). He served as Senior Pastor of El Paso's Exciting Immanuel Church from 1994-2009 and served as associate pastor in churches in New Mexico and Texas beginning in 1978. Prior to pastoring, he was a high school band director and coach for 11 years. In 2008 he was honored as Outstanding Community Honoree for his work in reaching out to people of all races and ethnicities. He and his wife Sally direct the Zig Ziglar Class at the 30,000 member Prestonwood Church in Plano, Texas, and they serve on the Platinum Ministry Board. He is the instrumental music director of the Platinum Singers, Prestonwood's senior adult choir. His spiritual theme is, "Stumbling Heavenward". He and his wife Sally have been married 47 years, have two grown sons, four granddaughters, and reside in Frisco, Texas (North Dallas)
